Dear Kluane neighbour,
On Oct 10th we will be going to the ballot boxes. I sense
from my work as a political pollster and small business coach to
First Nations and non-FN entrepreneurs that Yukoners are ready to go
forward in creating a business environment that promotes real
jobs for our citizens, but in a manner that respects the
awesome beauty of our Territory and our casual lifestyle.
I’m neither a redneck nor a treehugger, but I can understand their
passions…
With a Minority Government almost certainly at hand, my
representation as an Independent Kluane MLA will cause any
Governing Party to pause and reflect before they solicit my vote and
ponder whether proposed Legislation and Regulations reflect
Kluane interests & Yukon-wide sentiment.
The Premier & Cabinet Ministers are seldom in Kluane. Anecdotally,
it is even rarer for them to agree to appointments, return calls or
emails. Question Period is a circus and committees (especially
Budget deliberations) are dysfunctional. I will strive for reforms
that change the way politics in conducted in the Yukon. I
promise to seek your opinion, explain issues plainly and represent
you diligently.
Many in Kluane have encouraged me to come forward
based on my long time political activism and broad based knowledge.
Below is my short bio and in the coming weeks I hope to meet you to
hear your concerns and views on directions for the Yukon and to
answer your questions.

POLITICAL, EDUCATION & FAMILY BACKGROUND

Economic/Political analyst and pollster for TrendLines.
In the past year, TrendLines has sought the opinion of several
thousand voters from across the Territory’s 18 Ridings and gained an
incredible pulse of the wants, needs and sentiment of Yukoners.
Freddy is often found in the Legislature Gallery and is totally
immersed in Territorial politics and its players.

since 1975

not surveying, Freddy & Evalina Zamana (his partner of 13 years) are
small business coaches, assisting mostly First Nations entrepreneurs
with computer tutoring and WWWeb marketing throughout the Yukon and
Northern BC. Being a typical “little of everything” Yukoner,
Evalina also markets Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP’s)
& Mary Kay Cosmetics and until recently she worked in the
Library at St Elias School.
She was fired because some at CAFN
did not like my outspokenness in covering the Carcross Murder Trial
in June. She was active in Solidarity
in her native Poland and understands communism in all its forms.
And that includes guilt by association
and intimidation apparently. If u are familiar with George
Orwell's Animal Farm, the Pigs just won Round #1. Does this
type of financial vigilantism instil the values and fair play that
you want your kids to grow up with? Don't need a hearings:
"She must be of like mind." Just find a rope & a tree... we
doubt most voters consider this was representative of Kluane
justice. We thank all residents, FN & non-FN alike that have
given us encouragement, apologies & donations. It strengthens our
resolve...

 There's
a wind shift in Canada. A seachange in attitudes. The
country has rid itself of Liberal corruption and cronyism.
It's time for the Yukon to tack and take a similar course ... one
free of top/down edicts and a Legislature where it seems that the
whole purpose is merely to embarrass the other side.

In a
Minority environment, the governing Party will court my vote. That will be
my opportunity to ensure that Kluane interests and Yukon-wide sentiment is
reflected in proposed Legislation and Regulations. Current politics is too
personal and much too partisan. Independent MLA's can bring a reality check
back to a Legislature which has fallen into dysfunction & disrepute!
